The objective of this study was to gather and structure the core terminology, concepts, and expressive elements necessary for understanding the horror genre. For the reader’s convenience, the author organizes these elements into three chapters dedicated to the genres themselves, the expressive techniques, and the specifics of horror film characters. This structure immerses the reader in horror discourse, allowing them to gradually familiarize themselves with both basic concepts and more nuanced phenomena. Additionally, the book permits an unstructured exploration of the presented topics, making it universal for any audience. Its research section focuses the reader’s attention on the specific visual markers of terror that appear consistently across various iterations.

Each section is styled with characters from classic horror films.
