A guide to the cities of Russia, complete with road notes and sketches from travels. The book features less popular yet fascinating locations that the author and residents of various Russian cities recommend to tourists.

Note: The initial book was printed in paperback for the defense. Later, the project was revised based on the committee’s comments and printed in a hardcover edition of 50 copies. The content remained the same, so the photos of the spreads are still relevant. Photographs of the hardcover book are included in the presentation.

Modern tours of Russia are often monotonous. This is because guides and travel guides lead tourists along well-trodden routes, neglecting truly fascinating spots. Typically, the most unusual places in a city are known only to the locals. That is precisely why a guide featuring their recommendations will allow visitors to experience travel through Russia in a whole new way.
As part of my project, I organized and executed a field study trip to Kaluga. During this time, I interviewed local residents and sketched out various locations throughout the city and surrounding region. I asked the citizens not only about their favorite spots to recommend to tourists but also about the city’s stories and legends.
