Folktales and myths, inherent to every people, embody both wisdom and cunning, good and evil. This project presents a dual-sided map of fairy tale characters, where each side depicts a part of the world. In its creation, we aimed to convey the silhouettes and forms of the characters using letters.
Two Worlds on One Map

Folded Map
In creating images of mythical creatures, a contrasting approach was utilized: the creatures themselves were rendered with dense lines, while the surrounding elements were executed more delicately. To achieve this effect, flat and sharp feathers, as well as brushes, were employed.

Great Poloz, underside of the map
A central figure in one of the compositions is the Great Polez—a character from Bazhov’s story.
Other folklore heroes, upper world
How is the map structured?
