Concept
The visual core of the series is pedestrian crosswalks; their strict, rhythmic geometry functions as a visual code that guides the viewer’s gaze through the frame. Amid the hustle of the city—in the sometimes bleak and monochromatic palette of the metropolis—it is worth looking at familiar objects from a different angle, noticing what was previously unseen. These are no longer peeling facades, but rather years of accumulated history. Not merely asphalt, but a stage upon which the daily documentary theater unfolds. The city is a network of transitions. We are always somewhere in between—between home and work, between despondency and joy, between the past and the future. In this context, the pedestrian crossing is a zero coordinate—a point outside of time and space. This series is about the pauses we take before we take a step.In this work, I have shown the color of the city in various ways. In some places, walls are vibrant, while in others, everything is gray, and only a small detail—like a traffic sign or a light from a semi-basement window—adds brightness to the overall picture.
