«Spectrum» is a suspended sun-catcher inspired by the optical experiments of Francisco Infante-Arana.

The project engages with artistic explorations of light, reflection, and the interaction of geometric forms with surrounding space.
The core of the object consists of transparent red acrylic squares with dichroic optical film, assembled into a suspended composition. Their geometric structure references the minimalist spatial constructions characteristic of optical art.

Under the influence of sunlight or directed artificial light, acrylic elements dye surrounding surfaces red and create iridescent light refractions. Because of this, the object not only transmits light but also transforms the visual perception of the space, altering it according to the lighting conditions.

Construction

The structure consists of a metal crossbar fastened to the ceiling and eight transparent acrylic squares, each measuring 100×100 mm. The panels are connected by thin steel cables and arranged in a cascade at varying heights.
The mounting is organized through 3 mm diameter holes located at the corners of the acrylic panels. The cable is threaded through the hole and secured with a metal crimp—a crimping sleeve—which grips the cable and prevents it from slipping. The crimps are also used to fasten the cables to the crossbar.
Materials and Colors

Iridescent Red AcrylicTransparent red acrylic with a dichroic optical coating that creates shimmering hues of orange, pink, and violet depending on the angle of light incidence. The material transmits light, coloring the surrounding space and forming rainbow refractions on walls and surfaces.
