Simultaneous view—a temporary facade project for an exhibition of French artist Robert Delaunay, La Rotation Simultanée. The concept of the graphic facade is intended to narrate the artist’s creative explorations and his journey toward founding his painting movement—Orphism. The architectural facade, conversely, presents a meditative image of «ideal art» in the artist’s view.

GRAPHIC FACADE

net pattern
The concept of the graphic façade is based on a very important aspect of DeLone’s shift in direction—from the cubism popular during the early part of his career to the founding of his own style, Orphism. Throughout this stylistic transition, Rober DeLone maintained his characteristic approach to ornamental and stained-glass works, utilizing the fragmentation of local color spots into various hues. The graphic façade became a way to narrate the formation of the style the artist called his «pure art.»

ARCHITECTURAL FACADE
Concept: The architectural facade project was founded on a «meditation» of the works of Robert DeLone. The facade combines glass and structures that flow seamlessly into one another, creating that sense of dynamism, rhythm, and harmonic color play that is so important to the artist. The facade’s function is a pedestrian route and a viewing point, allowing visitors to experience the lightness and musicality inherent in DeLone’s work.

The formal shaping of an architectural facade implies both pedestrian and viewing functions for visitors. It creates a space that allows for immersion into the emotionality, meditative quality, and musicality of Delone’s work.
