Clare Bishop is a British art historian and art critic. Born in London in 1971, she grew up on the border of England and Wales. In 1994, she graduated from St John’s College, University of Cambridge, with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History. She continued her studies at the University of Essex, earning a master’s degree in 1996 and a Ph.D. in 2002. From 2001 to 2006, she taught critical theory at the Royal College of Art in London. Since 2008, she has been teaching art history with the New York University Alumni Center.
