EMPIRE OF ART
The park concept is based on a reinterpretation of the ornamental designs found in the formal gardens of Versailles. The process involved studying historical drawings of 17th-century French parterres, the elements of which formed the foundation of the project’s layout. Illustrations from the book «Garden Ornaments for Pleasure, ” published in 1651, were used as the basis for the plan. The geometric patterns were adapted for a contemporary public space and were utilized to shape the park’s water features, walking paths, relaxation areas, and functional zones.
The artistic inspiration for the project came from the work of René Magritte. Characteristics of the artist—clouds, birds, doors, reflections, and the moon—have been integrated into the strict composition of the formal garden. The water surfaces function as mirrors, amplifying the themes of illusion and spatial duality. The „Empire of Images“ Park unites the classical principles of French garden and landscape art with the surrealistic world of Magritte, creating a space on the boundary between reality and imagination.
