As part of the HSE Art and Design School Poster Laboratory, I created a poster for the concert featuring Vyacheslav Gaivoronsky, Andrey Razin, and Pyotr Ivshin at the «DOM» Cultural Center on September 30, 2026. The objective was to convey the character of musical improvisation through the interaction of photography and typography.
The first stage involved selecting a photograph whose rhythm and mood resonated with the music of the performers. Next, the text was assembled manually on printed paper. Under the assignment’s constraints, only tape and self-adhesive paper labels could be used.
I made the musicians' names out of tape, following the winding lines of the photograph. The elongated, curved letters are interwoven with the image, and the cut-out printed text creates a more fragmented rhythm. The photograph establishes the theme, which the typography develops—thus, the poster conveys the principle of musical improvisation.
